Weather or mechanical
concerns in relation to school bussing will be broadcast on radio station
Star 96.7. The radio station will advise whether bus cancellations will
occur. Parents will be contacted by phone by the bus driver regarding
bus cancellations. They may ask for your assistance in relaying the
message to other parents.
School bus safety rules have been established to ensure order and safety
is kept while on the bus. Examples of misconduct may include:
- tampering with safety or emergency equipment on the bus
- fighting
- yelling and/or obscene language
- throwing objects on or off the bus
- movement in the aisles while the bus is in motion
- smoking or using matches or lighters on the bus
- vandalism
- disobeying the bus driver's instructions
Warnings and/or suspension of bus privileges may occur from repeated
or severe misconduct while on the bus.
To ensure the safety of the children all students are picked up and
dropped off at the designated bus stops. To get off the bus at any other
place other than the designated stop students of Opeongo High School
must have a bus pass with them. Students under 18 require a signed note
approved by at least one parent. Students over 18 years old may sign
their own note. All elementary students must provide a note signed by
a parent giving them permission to be dropped off at another destination
other than the pick up point. This signed note procedure maintains insurance
coverage for our bussing contractor.
