First Nations Women's Day

First Nations Women’s Day is celebrated annually on October 5th.  This day recognizes and promotes positive lifestyles and aims to end family violence by utilizing both traditional and contemporary resources.

Women come together for a day to instill a positive connection within the community.   By being ‘in community’ with other strong and vital Native women, all Native women can flourish inside of their own inner strength and grace. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate, recognize and acknowledge the important role women play in our community.

Funding for this day was provided by the Union of Ontario Indians, Family Violence Project and by the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation.
